Del Petersen has been raising show sheep through his club lamb operation since 1957.  Producing competitive quality show sheep for 4-H and FFA projects has been a goal of the club lamb operation ever since.  His influences originated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where he worked as the student shepherd.  His roots and knowledge of raising Stud Ram and Champion Caliber Sheep have led us today to being one of the top club lamb producers in the State of California.  We are proud to be providing a quality market lamb project to the industry and we take pride in representing the industry and being part of the Breeders Associations of California and the Nation.

As an Ag Teacher of 40 years, Del became in contact with individuals that assisted him with producing his current Club Lamb Operation that produces competitive show lambs that are in need for today’s meat industry.  The operation over the years began from over 300 Wether Dam Ewes to currently over 100 genetically proven females that consistently produce competitive projects.  The flock has been and will continue to be influenced by some of the nation’s top breeders to the likes of Impact Hamps, Johnson Club Lambs, Nicewonger Club Lambs, Miller Hampshires, Allred/Elliot Club Lambs and Hancock Hampshires.  These breeders success has motivated and influenced us towards industry trends and future Stud Ram Purchases.  Their club lamb operations have served as a model for others to follow. We congratulate them on their success and inspiration of our operation.

Petersen club lambs currently have produced numerous county fair champions for 4-H and FFA Projects state and nationwide.  As you view the current and past champions you will be able to see the current state of the quality of show lambs and the genetic consistency that our Stud Rams are producing today.   The genetic foundation of the past has evolved through severe culling practices and selecting club lamb producing ewes that would thrive in the show ring. We focus on selling wethers, ewes, and rams year round through our multiple breeding seasons to meet the demand of the show lamb and sheep industry.
